A Little History

In 1975 Mr. Donald Rodger formed the "Clan McPherson Pipe Band" at Mooloolaba Bowls Club. In that same year the Band competed for the first time at the Peter Boyle Memorial Pipe Band Contest at Maryborough bringing home 1st place.

In 1985 a change of practice venue saw the Band on the Maroochydore RSL Clubs rooftop along with a new name "Sunshine Coast Pipes & Drums".

In February 1990, the no longer established Nambour Caledonian Society donated their surplus funds to help the Band purchase new uniforms. In appreciation and in recognition of their generosity the Band became known as "Sunshine Coast Caledonian Pipes & Drums".

In 1992 the Band became an Incorporated Society.

Achievements

• 1991 - Grade 4 QLD Champions.
• 1995 - Easter Champions Maclean Gathering.
• 1995 - Grade 4 QLD Champions.
• 1996 - Grade 3 QLD Champions.
• 1997 - Grade 3 QLD Champions Pipe Corps.
• 1998 - Grade 3 Champions Drum Corps.
• 2006 - Grade 4 Champions Drum Corps.

The Future

• To continue fostering the culture of Scottish Pipe Band music and the training of its members with Scottish Pipe Band instruments, music and custom.
• Continue supporting local community events with our unique entertainment.
• To proudly represent the Sunshine Coast area by regularly attending and competing in Pipe Band Competitions throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
